You have probably been enjoying your new Keurig® K-Cup® Brewing System for a few days now (wonderful Christmas gift!) and wondering what could possibly get better than a fresh cup of coffee at the touch of a button. Well, we have put together a list of ways to get the most out of your Keurig® with these simple hacks and ideas!
Solofill SoloClip 2 Keurig® 2.0 Compatible Clip
For those of you that bought a Keurig® 2.0 K-Cup® Brewing System you may find some of your favourite Keurig® compatible capsules do not work in your machine and you get an error message (Keurig® added digital rights technology into their brewers). To avoid this nuisance, grab a Solofill SoloClip 2 Keurig® 2.0 Compatible Clip, pop it into your Keurig® 2.0 K-Cup® Brewing System and voila, every Keurig® compatible capsule will now work like a charm!
Perfect Pod & Keurig® Reusable Coffee Filters
So you want to use your own coffee in your Keurig® K-Cup® Brewing System to save some money and pay off those holiday shopping bills! Grab yourself a Perfect Pod Perfect Pod Eco-Carafe Reusable Capsule (carafe size available on Keurig® 2.0 K-Cup® Brewing Systems only) or a Keurig® 2.0 My K-Cup® Reusable Coffee Filter and you are all set.
Recyclable & Biodegradable Capsules
Concerned about throwing your K-Cups® in the garbage and the waste they create? Look no further, a select few Keurig® compatible manufacturers have created eco-friendly capsules such as RealCup™ (Canadian made!) who produces capsules for Tim Hortons, Marley Coffee and Higgins & Burke to name a few. Their capsules are made to snap apart after use to recycle the plastic capsule, reducing the amount of waste going into landfills. Barrie House Coffee has also developed their own recyclable capsules, and San Francisco Bay Coffee has developed a 97% biodegradable coffee pod (fingers crossed for 100% biodegradable in the near future!).
DIY Cappuccinos & Lattes
Your Keurig® K-Cup® Brewing System cannot make an authentic cappuccino or latte (Keurig® compatible indulgent beverages available) but pairing your brewer with an electric milk frother will give you the option to make a variety of specialty drinks. We recommend using a dark espresso coffee like Marley Coffee Lively Up Espresso, froth milk using an electric milk frother, and add Torani syrup for a customized flavour (optional).
Keep It Clean
Brewing coffee and solubles over time will create build up inside the brew head of your Keurig® K-Cup® Brewing System. To keep your brewer running smooth, pick up a pack of CleanCup Single Cup Brewer Cleaning Cups (not compatible with Keurig® 2.0 K-Cup® Brewing Systems, Solofill SoloClip Keurig® 2.0 Compatible Clip required) and use a CleanCup every 1-2 weeks to keep your brewer in top notch condition.
